According to The Athletic, Kvaratskhelia said his habit of lowering his socks during matches began during his Napoli debut, when he experienced cramps for a period of time.

Kvaratskhelia said: “That was my first game for Napoli, and I felt cramps for 35 minutes. Maybe it was because it was my first appearance and I was a little nervous. Normally I always keep my socks pulled up as usual, but at that moment I thought lowering them might help relieve the cramps.”
He said he then scored a goal, so he felt that the habit might have brought him good luck. “Since then, I have never changed it again.”
Speaking about the nickname “Kvaradona,” Kvaratskhelia said: “It is my favorite nickname. I am really proud to have played for Napoli. Being called that is an honor, but it is also pressure, because being compared with one of the best players in football history is really difficult to handle. Nobody can be compared with Maradona, but it makes me happy.”
