Hall Signs New Long-Term Contract with Newcastle United, Manchester United Had Interest

Lewis Hall has signed a new long-term contract with Newcastle United, keeping him at St James' Park.

According to reports, the England international attracted interest from Manchester United during the summer transfer window. Newcastle had previously seen several key players leave. Hall ultimately chose to renew his contract, with his previous deal having three years remaining.

107 appearances, from Chelsea to Newcastle

Hall is 22 years old and plays as a left-back. He joined Newcastle United from Chelsea in August 2023 and has made 107 appearances for the club so far.

Among those 107 appearances was a special experience: he featured in every round of Newcastle's 2024/25 League Cup winning run — the club's first domestic trophy in 70 years — but missed the final through injury.

Newcastle stated in their announcement that the 22-year-old has become an important member of the first team in recent seasons and has made 107 appearances since first arriving at the club he supported as a child in August 2023.

Hall said in an interview with the club website: “I am absolutely delighted. This is a very proud moment. To play for this club and represent these fans is an absolute privilege. I know what it means to them.”

“The fan base here and the support we receive, whether at St James' Park or away from home, is the best in the league in my opinion. Being able to bring them smiles is a big thing for me.”

“I obviously have a family connection with this club, and it is extremely important to all of us. One of the main reasons I play is to make my family proud, and I know what it means to them to see me play for Newcastle United.”

“This is a very good place. Our start to the season has been satisfying, especially after the arrival of the new head coach and coaching staff.”

Manchester United's interest did not turn into an offer, and Hall remains at St James' Park.
