Manchester United Move Falls Short as England International Lewis Hall Extends Newcastle Stay

Newcastle United have officially announced that defender Lewis Hall has signed a new long-term contract with the club. The 22-year-old England international had previously been linked with transfer rumors involving Manchester United, but ultimately chose to remain at St James' Park.

Hall's previous contract still had three years remaining, and the new deal means he will spend a longer future at Newcastle. Since joining from Chelsea in August 2023, he has made 107 appearances for Newcastle and helped the team lift the League Cup in 2025, the club's first domestic trophy in 70 years.

Hall said in an interview with the club's official website: "I am absolutely delighted. This is a very proud moment. Playing for this club and representing these supporters is an absolute privilege. I know what it means to them."

He added: "The fan base here and the support we receive from them, whether at St James' Park or away from home, is the best in the league in my opinion. Being able to bring them happiness is a big thing for me."

"I obviously have a family connection with this club, and it is extremely important for all of us. One of the main reasons I play football is to make my family proud, and I know what seeing me represent Newcastle United means to them."

This season under new head coach Matthias Jaissle, Hall has played every minute, including three Premier League matches and two League Cup victories.
