Premier League August Player of the Month nominees: Calafiori, Cherki, Bruno Fernandes and Pedro included

On September 3 Beijing time, the Premier League officially announced the nominees for the August Player of the Month award, with players including Calafiori, Cherki, Bruno Fernandes, Palmer and Joao Pedro listed among the candidates.

Premier League August Player of the Month nominee: Calafiori (Arsenal)

Two appearances, two wins, two assists, two clean sheets

For a forward, two assists in two matches is an impressive return, but Calafiori has also been highly efficient. So far this season, Arsenal have not conceded a goal—their defence allowed opponents only one shot on target across matches against Coventry and Aston Villa.

Calafiori has stood out with his overlapping attacks on the flank: his accurate low cross set up Havertz for Arsenal's first goal of the season, while another cross against Villa allowed Saka to calmly finish and score the winning goal.

Cherki (Manchester City)

Two appearances, two wins, two goals, two assists

The attacking midfielder became a key figure in Manchester City's perfect start with two goals and two assists. In the opening match against Bournemouth, City were behind when Cherki came off the bench, and he provided two assists late in the game to help turn the defeat into victory.

Against Crystal Palace, he started and scored a superb individual goal—beating four defenders before sending the ball into the corner of the net—then added another powerful strike from 20 yards out to complete a brace.

Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United)

Two matches, one win and one defeat, three goals and one assist

In Manchester United's big win over Ipswich, Bruno Fernandes delivered an outstanding performance and became a strong contender for the monthly award. He scored a hat-trick within 28 minutes, including a powerful shot that equalised before halftime.

He then calmly converted a penalty and completed his hat-trick with a precise touch and finish. In addition, Bruno Fernandes provided a fine pass to assist Mbeumo for another goal.

Palmer (Chelsea)

Two matches, two wins, two goals and one assist

He scored winning goals in both matches, making his season start perfect. One came after a brilliant dribble and finish against Brighton, while the other was a tight-angle shot that went through Fulham goalkeeper Leno's legs.

Against Fulham, Palmer also assisted Joao Pedro within the opening minute. He has been in excellent form, combining well with Joao Pedro and new signing Morgan Rogers in Xabi Alonso's attacking system.

Joao Pedro (Chelsea)

Two matches, two wins, two goals and two assists

The Brazilian forward has continued his excellent form from last season, producing dominant performances in both matches, with two assists and two goals. Against Fulham, he first chipped the ball over Leno and then assisted Palmer for the winning goal. Against Brighton, he scored Chelsea's third goal and later assisted Palmer again for the winner.

Mamadou Sangare (Brentford)

Two matches, one win and one draw, one assist

New signing Mamadou Sangare has been a key figure in Brentford's unbeaten start. In the 3-0 win over Tottenham, he completed a fine one-two with a teammate before crossing for Lewis-Potter to score.

The all-round midfielder dominated the midfield, contributing 27 defensive actions, including 12 tackles, six sliding tackles and five interceptions. He also won 12 duels and created four chances.

Tzolis (Hull City)

Two appearances, two wins, two clean sheets

Tzolis faced eight shots and conceded no goals, helping Hull City achieve two wins from two matches. In Hull City's first match, he made five saves against 21 shots to help defeat Manchester United, and he kept another clean sheet against Coventry.

Wissa (Newcastle United)

Two appearances, one win and one draw, one goal and one assist

Under Jaisser's guidance, Wissa has shown his versatility, performing well both as a number 10 and as a forward. He was named Man of the Match against Liverpool.

He carried the ball from outside his own penalty area deep into the opponent's half and assisted Willock, producing a pass as valuable as a goal. Later, against Tottenham, he scored with a brilliant improvised finish, flicking the ball over Kinsky in acrobatic fashion to help his team win.
