Only 10 Teams Remain Unbeaten as Arsenal, Paris and Bayern Display Two Different Title Strategies

The new European league season has already gone through several rounds of competition. At present, only 10 teams remain unbeaten across the top five leagues. The Bundesliga situation is slightly different because it has only played two rounds, while in the other four major leagues, no league has more than two teams maintaining winning streaks.

The Bundesliga was the last of the five major leagues to begin. Bayern Munich drew with Schalke 04 and therefore left the group of teams with perfect records. Meanwhile, Augsburg, Freiburg, Borussia Dortmund and promoted side Elversberg have each won two consecutive matches, temporarily occupying the top positions in the standings.

In contrast, Paris Saint-Germain have had a worse start, failing to win any of their first three matches. They drew with Lille and Rennes in their first two games before losing to Monaco, losing the aura of a former Champions League winner. This season, Paris suffered a setback in the Super Cup, first losing to Lens and then defeating Aston Villa, with only one victory in the past month. Unfortunately, Aston Villa missed the chance to win the UEFA Super Cup for the second time after facing an underperforming giant.

After Monaco became the only Ligue 1 team with a perfect record, four other teams, including Paris FC coached by Roseniér, who previously worked at Chelsea, and Lille, where Ancelotti's son is involved, are following closely behind.

In La Liga, Barcelona became the only team with a perfect record, dominating with four consecutive wins, while Real Madrid suffered their first defeat after a narrow loss to Real Betis. La Liga started the earliest among the major leagues and has returned to normal after make-up games. Both Madrid clubs have suffered defeats, while Barcelona have made a strong start on their title defense journey.

The list of top Serie A teams remains similar to last season, featuring many familiar names, with surprise package Como also moving into the upper positions. Roma and Inter Milan have both achieved three consecutive victories, making them two of the few teams with perfect records in the league. It is worth noting that Amorim, who moved to AC Milan, had a positive start, but a stoppage-time draw against Juventus ended his winning run.

In the highly competitive Premier League, continued recruitment in the transfer market has made the season even more unpredictable. After three rounds of matches, Manchester City and Arsenal have emerged as the only two teams with perfect records. Does this mean the title race will begin from the opening stage of the season?

Manchester City spent heavily to rebuild their midfield, signing Enzo in a late move, and he quickly entered the starting lineup. Although Haaland cut his hair short, his form remains excellent, as he comfortably defeated promoted side Coventry and continued leading the standings. Some have questioned whether he can maintain this pace.

Arsenal fans may still remember the concern from falling behind in the opening match, but the team remained calm. They led Chelsea in both possession and shots, eventually completing a comeback victory in the heavyweight clash through goals from Havertz and Odegaard. Arsenal's substitutes are also impressive, with Merino, who stood out during the World Cup period, frequently appearing from the bench, while former leading scorer Gyokeres did not make his debut until the third round.

Clearly, although the five major leagues appear similar on the surface, their internal title strategies are completely different. Champions in Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga may not need to push at full intensity from the beginning; as long as they perform well throughout the long season, they can remain in the title race. However, the situation in the Premier League is completely different, representing an entirely different contest.

Older fans may still remember the early Premier League era, when Manchester United and Arsenal were known for slow starts rather than aggressively chasing points. After Chelsea and Manchester City rose, Ferguson also had to adjust his strategy, and the Premier League title race seemed to begin showing its shape from the first round. Falling behind early became difficult to recover from, and Manchester City and Arsenal, currently near the top of the table, have already entered title-chasing mode.
