Manchester City Announce Signing of 22-Year-Old Brazilian Winger Alan, Deal Worth €40 Million Plus Add-ons

Beijing time August 31: Premier League club Manchester City officially announced on their website today that they have completed the signing of 22-year-old Brazilian winger Alan Elias from Palmeiras. The deal is currently awaiting international transfer clearance, and the two sides have signed a five-year contract that will run until the summer of 2031.

According to renowned transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, the fixed transfer fee for the deal is €40 million, with additional add-ons included. The Athletic and BBC provided a more specific structure: €37.5 million in fixed fees plus up to €2.5 million in bonus payments, with the total cost capped at €40 million, significantly lower than the €100 million release clause in the player's previous contract.

Manchester City said in their announcement: "The exciting winger joins from Brazilian side Palmeiras and has signed a five-year contract, which will run until the summer of 2031."

He joins Enzo Maresca's first-team squad after Elliott Anderson, Jeremy Monga, Rulli and Ayoub Bouaddi.

The 22-year-old mainly operates as a right winger, but he can also play in midfield or as a second striker, and he has even filled in as a full-back for Palmeiras.

Alan is the latest star to move from Palmeiras to Europe. Previously, defender Vitor Reis joined Manchester City in January 2025, while Gabriel Jesus completed the same move back in 2017.

Alan possesses the agility and technical ability commonly associated with Brazilian forwards, and he is very excited to join Enzo Maresca's team.

Everyone at Manchester City wishes Alan every success in his upcoming career with the club.

Alan came through Palmeiras' youth system and quickly established himself after being promoted to the first team in 2025. This season, he has made 41 appearances in all competitions for the Green and Whites, contributing 6 goals and 5 assists; across his first-team career, he has recorded 9 goals and 12 assists in 96 appearances and won the São Paulo State League title twice with the team. Primarily a right winger, he can also play on the left wing, as an attacking midfielder, a second striker and even as a full-back, with his versatility being a quality valued by Manchester City's coaching staff.
