Pellegrino: I received offers from overseas clubs, Serie A suits me better

In an interview with the same day's Gazzetta dello Sport, Fiorentina forward Mateo Pellegrino looked back on how the club had followed him and mentioned that he had received offers from overseas.

"There were indeed a few phone calls, but at my age I feel Serie A is the right choice. I can still improve a lot here. In life, you always have to carefully weigh every decision. I knew they wanted me from the beginning of this summer. I completed the entire pre-season preparation with Parma, and later I chose the option that suited me best. I think this is normal at the age of 25."

Speaking about Grosso, he continued: "Very good. He is a young coach with many ideas and a lot of energy. I think he is the right person for us. He can help players grow on an individual level, and he also focuses on improving the team as a whole. A message to the fans? I want to thank them for making the centenary celebration so beautiful. We are all very disappointed; they deserved a moment of joy. But I am sure we will turn things around, and they will continue to support us. We will give everything we have, I promise you."

When talking about his idols, he said: "Crespo, Batistuta, and Fernando Torres during a certain period of my childhood."

Regarding his league goal tally, the forward gave a brief final response: "More than last year."
