Only 10 Teams Remain Perfect, Arsenal, PSG and Bayern Have Different Title Strategies

As the new European league season progresses, only 10 teams in the current five major leagues have maintained perfect records. Compared with the Bundesliga, which has only played two rounds, none of the other four major leagues has more than two teams capable of maintaining consecutive victories.

The Bundesliga was the last league to begin. Bayern Munich ended its winning streak after drawing against Schalke 04. Currently, Augsburg, Freiburg, Borussia Dortmund and newly promoted Elversberg have all won their first two matches and sit at the top of the table.

Compared with Bayern, Paris Saint-Germain have made a slower start. They have failed to win any of their opening three matches, drawing with Lille and Rennes before losing to Monaco, showing none of the dominance expected from a former Champions League double winner. In the previous Super Cup, Paris not only suffered defeat against Lens but also narrowly beat Aston Villa, meaning they had only one victory in a month. Their inefficiency cost the once-powerful club the chance to win a second European Super Cup.

After defeating defending champions Paris Saint-Germain, Monaco became the only Ligue 1 team with a perfect record. Behind them are four other teams, including Paris FC coached by former Chelsea manager Roseniour and Lille managed by Carlo Ancelotti's son.

In La Liga, only Barcelona have achieved a perfect start, collecting four straight wins and moving toward defending their title. In contrast, Real Madrid are in an awkward position after narrowly losing to Real Betis and being caught in points. La Liga started earliest among the five major leagues, and after several postponed matches were rescheduled, both Madrid clubs suffered their first defeats, with only Barcelona breaking through.

Serie A is similar to last season, with familiar teams still dominating the top of the standings, while dark horses Como have also performed well. Roma and Inter Milan have both won three consecutive matches and are the league's two remaining perfect-record teams. AC Milan's new manager Amorim also made a good start, but they were denied another win after being equalized by Juventus in stoppage time. Notably, his former club Manchester United also suffered a stoppage-time equalizer from an opponent.

When discussing the highly competitive Premier League, spending during the summer transfer window remained high across the league, and results attracted significant attention. After three rounds, Manchester City and Arsenal have shown excellent form and are the only teams to maintain perfect records. Has the title race already entered full speed so quickly?

While Manchester City invested hundreds of millions to rebuild their midfield, the impressive arrival of Enzo quickly took shape, and despite cutting his hair short, Haaland continued to display terrifying attacking ability, sitting firmly at the top of the scoring charts with a huge goal advantage. This has silenced those who questioned him.

Arsenal supporters, meanwhile, remain excited. Despite conceding early, the team stayed composed, surpassing Chelsea in possession and shots before completing a comeback, seemingly recreating their dominant opening-round performance against Coventry.

Arsenal's depth on the bench is also worthy of praise. Merino, who impressed at the World Cup, has continued to start as a substitute, while last season's top scorer Gyokeres did not make his debut until the final stage of the third round.

It can be seen that although these 10 teams all compete in the five major leagues, they have completely different development strategies. In Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga, winning the title does not always require a full-speed start; teams can secure strong positions through outstanding periods during the long season. For the Premier League, however, the situation is completely different, with a clear contrast in title-winning approaches.

Many older fans may remember that in the early days of the Premier League, teams did not place as much emphasis on collecting points at the start. The battles between Manchester United and Arsenal often reached their decisive stages later in the season. But with the rise of Chelsea and Manchester City, Ferguson had to change this tradition, and the Premier League title race seemed to require a push from the very first round.

If a team falls behind at the beginning, catching up later becomes extremely difficult. Manchester City and Arsenal, currently high in the standings, have already moved onto the path toward the title race.
