Official: Adam Lawrence remains Manchester United U21 head coach, previously led team to National League title and Premier League Cup triumph

Manchester United have officially confirmed that Adam Lawrence will continue as the Manchester United U21 head coach.

In January 2026, after Travis Binnion joined the first-team coaching staff, Lawrence returned to the Carrington training ground. He will now be responsible for overseeing the club's professional development phase teams (U16 to U21).

In the 2025/26 season, Manchester United's U21 team reached the Premier League 2 play-off final. Lawrence previously worked at Manchester United, coaching the club's U18 team, and guided the young players to win the National League title and the Premier League Cup in the 2023/24 season.

Manchester United academy director Stephen Torpey said: "I am delighted that Adam can take charge of the professional development phase teams. Adam has been with Manchester United for many years, has a deep understanding of the club's operating model, and fully understands the academy's ambitious future development plans. At present, the club shares a highly unified vision, and the strong collaborative atmosphere will greatly support the growth of young players. We will continue to invest deeply in youth development and strive to build a world-leading football talent development system."

In addition, Lawrence will also be responsible for leading the team in UEFA Youth League competitions.
