On September 8, the latest training squad of the Chinese men's national football team was announced, with 17-year-old Qingdao West Coast rising star Wang Gengrui selected.
According to reports, the Chinese men's national football team is scheduled to travel to Wuhan and Chongqing from September 12 to October 7, 2026, for a training camp and warm-up matches.

So far this season, Wang Gengrui has made 21 appearances in the Chinese Super League, including 20 starts, making a significant contribution to Qingdao West Coast currently sitting fifth in the CSL standings.
In addition to Wang Gengrui, three Qingdao-born players, Liu Yang, Wang Ziming and Zhong Yihao, have also been called up by China national team head coach Shao Jiayi.
