Roig is the longest-serving active club president among Europe's top five leagues, and the club announced that related celebrations will be held during this season.

Next, Roig is expected to challenge Bernabeu, one of the most iconic presidents in Spanish football history, who led Real Madrid for 35 seasons.

Roig took over Villarreal in May 1997. He helped the team quickly reach La Liga and gradually become a key force in Spanish football. During Roig's tenure, Villarreal won two UEFA Intertoto Cup titles and one UEFA Europa League title.
