Cagliari defender Aurelio: When I was in Serie C, Serie A once seemed like Mount Everest

Aurelio was one of the players to join Cagliari in the final stages of this summer's transfer market. He said: "I was very excited when I received the call from Cagliari. The transfer was completed within two weeks, and I am very proud to be here. I have arrived at Cagliari at the right time in my career, and I am ready to embrace this new journey. I think I had a good season last year, but unfortunately, the team did not finish the league in the way we had hoped."

Aurelio said: "For me, this is an important opportunity, and I will seize it, train hard, and give everything for my teammates. I still remember my first few years in Serie C. At that time, I viewed Serie A as a 'Mount Everest.' Through hard work and commitment, along with my performances on the pitch, I continued along this path. After three years in Serie C, I went to Serie B and never stopped trying to improve myself. I climbed over this mountain, and in the end I really did reach the summit. I did it."

Speaking about head coach Pisacane, Aurelio said: "He is very well prepared, and he has also told me what he expects from me. Putting his demands into practice on the pitch will allow me to help the team and benefit everyone. I will observe everyone around me and learn from them, especially those who arrived here before me. The way I play in my position will vary depending on the match: sometimes the coach will ask the full-back to take part in the build-up, while at other times I will have to run the entire flank. I have a very good feeling about the environment here. Compared with the other teams I have played for in the past, this place is different. You are playing for a group, and there is a strong sense of identity here. My teammates have welcomed me very well: I have joined a very good team, or rather, a family. Everyone is always willing to help you, whether on or off the pitch, at any time. From the staff and teammates to everyone who works around the team, such as the equipment manager, everyone helps you with all kinds of things. I really like the atmosphere here."

Speaking about Alessandro Romano, Aurelio said: "I met him at Spezia last January. At the first training session, he left a very deep impression on me physically and technically. Although he is very young, he already has a strong understanding of the game. He is very determined and knows what he wants. Compared with January, he has improved a lot. There are not many players like him at this age; he plays like a veteran. He is a very good person and is also very good at bringing the team together. The teammate who impressed me the most? Deiola."
