Sweden head coach Graham Potter revealed that Tottenham Hotspur forward Dejan Kulusevski is very close to returning, with the attacker, who has been sidelined for more than 15 months due to a knee injury, expected to feature in the autumn international fixtures.
"He is actually very close."

In an interview with SVT, Potter gave a positive update on Kulusevski's recovery progress. He said: "He is actually very close. I have been very impressed by the way he has handled the injury." Potter also stressed the need for caution: "We have to be careful with him. I hope he can be with us for the September or October matches, but we first need to communicate with Dejan and Tottenham."
Potter also reiterated Kulusevski's importance to the Sweden team, describing him as a world-class player whose personality and technical ability can significantly improve the team's overall level. Although the national team management is eager to bring him back, any decision will be made in close consultation with Tottenham's medical team to avoid rushing him back into the match rhythm.
Tottenham comeback path experienced a minor setback
Kulusevski had previously provided Tottenham with a major boost by returning to full team training after nearly 500 days out. He then came close to making his official match comeback and was included in Tottenham's squad for their Premier League away match against Nottingham Forest. However, a "small issue" emerged during preparations, and Tottenham ultimately took a cautious approach by leaving him out of the matchday squad.
Given the severity of his previous knee injury and the lengthy recovery period, the decision was viewed as a precautionary measure. Despite this minor setback, Kulusevski's recovery process remains on track.
