Mundo Deportivo: Barcelona Clears Five Transfer Debts, Gordon Payment Deferred Until 2027

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona has cleared five outstanding transfer payments including those for Olmo, but payments related to Gordon have been deferred until 2027.

The accounts as of June 30, 2026 showed that Barcelona still owed 167.4 million euros to other sporting entities at that time, including 115.8 million euros in short-term debt and 51.6 million euros in long-term debt.

After that, Barcelona cleared five major deals: Olmo, Raphinha, Kounde, Lewandowski and Vitor Roque.

As of June 30, the accounts showed around 34.4 million euros still payable for Olmo, 19 million euros for Raphinha, 12.3 million euros for Kounde, 11.1 million euros for Lewandowski and 7.3 million euros for Vitor Roque. The combined amount of more than 84 million euros has now been fully paid.

This means a large portion of Barcelona's debt from previous transfer markets has disappeared from the accounts.

Anthony Gordon's deal still represented a large part of the obligations that had not been settled as of June 30. The accounts showed that Barcelona owed Newcastle United around 68.9 million euros, with about 21.9 million euros classified as short-term debt and another 46.9 million euros as long-term debt.

However, Barcelona later reached an agreement with Newcastle United to defer the nearly 22 million euros originally due in June 2026 until 2027. The club did not pay less or reduce its total debt to Newcastle United; it only postponed the payment deadline. The debt remains, but Barcelona avoided an immediate cash outflow.

Therefore, almost all of the nearly 68.9 million euros in unpaid amounts from the Gordon transfer will move into future financial years.

If the 84.1 million euros corresponding to Olmo, Raphinha, Kounde, Lewandowski and Vitor Roque are deducted from the 167.4 million euros of debt listed on June 30, the remaining debt is around 83.3 million euros. However, this figure cannot be understood as Barcelona's complete current debt to other clubs because the accounts only cover the period ending June 30, 2026.

All signings completed after July 1 are not included in these accounts. The obligations created by Barcelona's later signings must be included in the new financial year's accounts. This involves deals completed in July, August and September, whose outstanding payments are included neither in the original 167.4 million euros nor in the 83.3 million euros remaining after the five deals were cleared.

In addition, the total cost of a signing does not mean Barcelona must owe the entire amount to the selling club. Part of the transfer fee may already have been paid, another part may be spread across multiple financial years, and there may also be performance-related clauses.

Therefore, to understand the actual new debt created by signings after July 1, it is necessary to know how much has already been paid for each deal and how much remains outstanding.

Barcelona has completely cleared five deals that had corresponded to more than 84 million euros in outstanding obligations. The transfer fees for Olmo, Raphinha, Kounde, Lewandowski and Vitor Roque have all been fully paid.

However, Anthony Gordon still represents an obligation of nearly 69 million euros, although most of it has been deferred to future financial years; all outstanding payments from signings completed after July 1 must also be included.

Therefore, the approximately 83 million euros of debt shown in the accounts as of June 30 does not represent Barcelona's entire current debt to other clubs, but only the balance remaining in those accounts after the five deals were cleared. The true scale of Barcelona's debts with other clubs will only become clear after commitments from the latest transfer window are included.
