Giggs: Around Eight or Nine Years Ago, Guardiola Said Rashford Was the Manchester United Player He Admired Most

Giggs revealed that Guardiola once spoke highly of Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford in front of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Giggs recalled an occasion around eight or nine years ago when he attended a dinner with then-Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and Old Trafford legend Ferguson.

During the dinner, Giggs asked Guardiola which Manchester United players he admired the most. He expected the answer to be De Gea, but Guardiola instead praised Rashford by name, saying he "would want to take him to Manchester City tomorrow."

On Ferdinand's program, Giggs recalled the memorable dinner with the two legendary managers Guardiola and Ferguson: "There were about eight of us at the time, Ferguson arranged for me to sit next to Pep, and it happened around eight or nine years ago."

"I asked Pep: 'Which Manchester United players do you admire?' He replied: 'Who do you think it would be?'"

"I said: 'De Gea?' He said no. I guessed again: 'Luke Shaw?' He still shook his head. He said the best player in the Manchester United squad was Rashford, and added that he would want to sign him tomorrow."

"I was thinking at the time, what exactly did Pep see in Rashford? You have to remember that Marcus was playing as a center-forward during that period."
