The 30-player shortlist for the 2026 Ballon d'Or has been announced, and British bookmakers have updated the winning odds accordingly. Bayern striker Harry Kane is the top favorite and leads the other contenders by a wide margin.

2026 Ballon d'Or Odds: Kane Leads by a Wide Margin, Yamal Second, Mbappe Third

Kane, who sits at the top of the odds list, made 51 appearances for Bayern in all competitions during the 2025-26 season and scored a career-best 61 goals in a single season, at least 19 more than any other player in Europe's top five leagues. Thirty-six of those goals came in the Bundesliga, helping him win the European Golden Shoe for the second time — only Messi (six wins) and Ronaldo (four wins) have won it more often.

If Kane ultimately wins the 2026 Ballon d'Or, he will become the first English player to receive the honor since Michael Owen in 2001.

Yamal, second on the odds list, directly contributed to 41 goals for Barcelona last season (24 goals and 17 assists), and helped Spain win the World Cup this summer.

Mbappe, third on the list, won the La Liga Golden Boot (25 goals) and the Champions League Golden Boot (15 goals) last season, scoring 42 goals in all competitions for Real Madrid. The French forward scored 10 goals at the 2026 World Cup, became the tournament's all-time leading scorer at the age of 27, and won the World Cup Golden Boot for the second time, becoming the first player to achieve that feat.

Rodri ranks fourth on the list. The Spanish midfielder was not at his best for Manchester City last season, but he was a key figure in Spain's World Cup title victory this summer, completing 756 successful passes to set a single-World Cup record over the past 60 years, and he eventually won the World Cup Golden Ball award.

Kvaratskhelia scored 19 goals and provided 10 assists for Paris last season. The Georgian forward is one of the best dribblers in world football, completing an average of 2.7 successful dribbles per 90 minutes in Ligue 1 last season.
