Manchester United Legend: Carrick Will Face Huge Pressure in the Future

Manchester United legend Teddy Sheringham believes Michael Carrick will face huge pressure in the upcoming season. The 60-year-old former Red Devils striker said he expects Manchester United fans will not be satisfied with any result below major trophy success.

Expectations have been raised from 15th to 3rd

Last season, Manchester United made significant progress under Carrick, rising from 15th place in the Premier League in the 2024/25 season to third and returning to the Champions League. They will face Shakhtar FK in the Champions League on Thursday evening. However, Sheringham believes this improvement will not reduce expectations for Carrick.

At the start of this season, Manchester United have recorded one win, one draw and one loss in their first three Premier League matches, currently sitting 11th. They lost 0-2 away to Hull City in the opening round, beat Ipswich Town 5-2 at home in the second round, and were held to a draw by Everton in stoppage time last weekend.

"The pressure is huge"

Sheringham said in an interview: "The pressure at Manchester United is huge. Expectations may not appear immediately at this moment, but inside the club and among the supporters, they will not be satisfied with fourth, third or second."

He further explained that even without outside voices saying Manchester United are not good enough, the pressure created by the club itself and its surrounding environment is already significant. Anyone connected with Manchester United understands this.
