Di Marzio: Dutch fan flies to Madrid just to watch idol Dumfries live

According to Di Marzio, 21-year-old Dutch fan Niels flew to Madrid just to watch his idol Dumfries live.

A flight to Madrid, an orange jersey with Dumfries' name printed on the back. The destination? It is not hard to guess. The Bernabeu Stadium, where Real Madrid face Inter Milan. Carrying a suitcase and a travel bag on his shoulders, Niels has just arrived in Spain, with more than 24 hours remaining before the match begins. He said: "I am Dutch, and Dumfries is one of my favorite players. I came here for him."

In football terms, Niels comes from North Brabant. He supports Manchester United as well as his hometown club Willem II: "Some important players have come from there, including Alexander Isak, Virgil van Dijk, Frenkie de Jong and Van Hooijdonk. There is also Obi, who is currently on loan from Manchester United."

The journey began on the morning of September 7. Niels first flew to Madrid and made a stopover in Seville. He said: "It is not a short trip, but it is worth it for such an exciting match." This will be his first time watching a game live at the Bernabeu.

Speaking about Dumfries, Niels said: "Seeing Dumfries face his former club again will definitely be exciting. He has become an international-level player at Inter Milan. I still remember his outstanding performances in the 2024/25 Champions League. He was incredible against Barcelona."

Niels also said: "This is a new journey that Dumfries deserves. The match will be very competitive. It is a shame not to see Arda Guler, but there are still stars on the pitch such as Lautaro, Marcus Thuram and Calhanoglu." Regarding the result, he predicted that Real Madrid would win 2-1, with the goals scored by Mbappe, Bellingham and Lautaro.
