So Close Yet So Far: Arsenal Miss Out on La Liga Academy Prospect After Deadline-Day Deal Hijacked

During this summer transfer window, Arsenal not only failed to sign two major stars, Vinicius Junior and Julian Alvarez, but according to reports they also missed out on another promising La Liga prospect.

Racing de Santander sporting director Chema Aragon said that on deadline day, a deal that appeared almost certain to send Pablo Garcia of Real Betis to Arsenal was intercepted by their club. Garcia ultimately joined Racing de Santander.

Aragon said Arsenal were originally close to signing the young winger, with plans to immediately loan him out for further development after completing the deal. The transfer was almost finalized. However, Racing de Santander also entered the race, with their initial plan also being a loan move.
