Reece James: Losing to Arsenal Is Just a Minor Setback, It Is Only the Third League Match

Chelsea captain Reece James said after the team's 1-2 away defeat to Arsenal that although he was disappointed with the result, the loss should not overshadow the positive progress made since Xabi Alonso took charge. He believes this is only a minor setback on Chelsea's road forward.

In this fiercely contested London derby, where the situation remained tense throughout, Chelsea suffered their first defeat of the season. Although Morgan Rogers scored a brilliant early goal, the Blues eventually lost 1-2 away to defending champions Arsenal.

James believes the result was decided by small margins, with Chelsea's performance containing both aspects to be praised and areas that still need improvement.

James said: "We didn't get the result we wanted, and of course we are not satisfied with that, but there were still some positive aspects in the match."

"Our start was very good. Even after we fell behind, we showed resilience and tried to fight our way back into the game, but in the end there was not enough time."

"At this level of football, matches are often decided by a few moments. One or two details can change the score, and sometimes people exaggerate the importance of the final result."

Speaking about the changes since Xabi Alonso took over, James said the atmosphere inside the team is currently very good. Over the past two months, the players have been learning the new coach's ideas and have already made progress that can be clearly felt.
