Mail: Middlesbrough's Away Kits Dyed Green by Chemical Substance at Burnley, Compensation Being Considered

A report from the Daily Mail states that Middlesbrough were furious after travelling to Burnley for a Championship match because their kits were ruined.

After the Teesside side drew 1-1 at Turf Moor last week, equipment staff were surprised to find the originally white shirts and shorts covered in green stains, and club officials quickly began investigating the cause.

It was later discovered that the culprit was a chemical substance laid down by the Lancashire club to deal with nematode problems on the pitch. It contained a dye that turned the visiting team's entire set of white kits green.

After the visitors returned home, even industrial cleaning agents failed to remove the stains. Shocked Middlesbrough officials have informed the English Football League of the incident, and it is believed they are now considering making a compensation claim.

The extent of the damage was so severe that even football boots and goalkeeper gloves were affected. An insider said: "I've never seen anything like this before."
