World Sports Daily: Real Madrid Face Obstacles in Finding Courtois Successor as Liverpool Sign Brumaens

According to Mundo Deportivo, Courtois' contract will expire next June, and Real Madrid have faced obstacles in finding his successor, with target goalkeeper Luca Brumaens signed by Liverpool for 35 million euros.

Courtois is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. The Belgian player has helped Real Madrid on many occasions with crucial saves, and his status at the club goes far beyond what can be measured by a single contract. However, Courtois' contract expires next June, and at 34 years old, his career has inevitably entered a stage where it may be approaching its later years. Therefore, although Real Madrid plan to extend his contract for at least another season, the club began quietly searching for a replacement long ago. It has proven, however, that this is not an easy task.

One goalkeeper on Real Madrid's shortlist has a similar background to Courtois: he is also Belgian, came through the Genk academy, and has significant potential, but he has already been signed by Liverpool for 35 million euros.

That goalkeeper is Luca Brumaens. The 18-year-old is currently the starting goalkeeper for the Flemish side and will continue playing for Genk this season, but he will remain there on loan. Standing at 2 meters tall, Brumaens is highly rated within Real Madrid, and according to COPE Radio, the club had originally considered signing him in the coming months.

However, this time Liverpool moved first and secured his signing. As a result, Real Madrid now have to adjust their targets at Valdebebas, with an already limited shortlist losing another candidate.
