Evening Standard: Richarlison’s Move to Turkish Super Lig Falls Through, Saudi Arabia Emerges as Potential Next Destination

According to the London Evening Standard, after the deal to join Trabzonspor failed to be completed, Richarlison, who wants to leave Tottenham, is looking for a new club. As transfer windows in multiple leagues have closed, the number of destinations available to the Brazilian forward has become increasingly limited.

This summer, Richarlison has repeatedly been linked with a departure. Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi had previously confirmed that the player had expressed his desire to leave the club. Meanwhile, Richarlison was not included in Tottenham’s Premier League squad registration for this season.

Everton were previously one of the teams interested in Richarlison, but no substantial progress was made before the English transfer window closed. Trabzonspor then became a potential destination for him, but the two sides also failed to complete the deal before Turkey’s transfer window closed on Friday night local time.

With transfer windows in markets including England, Turkey, Scotland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Major League Soccer in the United States closing one after another, Richarlison’s options have been significantly reduced.

At present, the Saudi Pro League is one of the most realistic potential destinations. The Saudi league’s transfer window does not close until October 12, giving Richarlison relatively sufficient time to find a Saudi club.

Portugal is also a possible option, with its local transfer window closing on September 15. Richarlison is Brazilian and his native language is Portuguese. The transfer windows in Brazil and Mexico will close on September 11, so he still has time to seek a return to Brazil or a move to Mexico.

If he ultimately cannot find a new club, how Tottenham will handle Richarlison remains to be seen. According to a previous report from TalkSPORT, Tottenham are considering terminating the contract with the 29-year-old forward. If the two sides agree to end the contract, Richarlison would become a free agent and could look for a new club that meets registration requirements after the transfer window closes.

Last week, Richarlison said in a statement: “Despite everything that has happened, I still have a contract with Tottenham and I will continue to follow the club’s arrangements.”
