Calciomercato: McTominay's Contract Renewal Talks with Napoli Stalled, Possible January Exit

According to Calciomercato, McTominay's contract renewal talks with Napoli have still not made progress. If there is no substantial movement, Napoli may consider listening to offers for the midfielder in January next year.

McTominay's contract expires in 2028, but the club does not want to leave his future unresolved as the contract approaches its final period.

The renewal talks have reached an impasse, mainly because of a gap between the two sides over salary. McTominay hopes to increase his net annual salary to around €6.5 million, a demand that currently makes it difficult for both sides to reach an agreement. Sporting director Giovanni Manna has also publicly acknowledged that negotiations are difficult, but McTominay's renewal remains a priority for Napoli.

At present, Napoli and McTominay's representatives have not scheduled a new meeting. The club's stance is clear: it does not want to reach the period before the contract expires without determining the player's future. If there is no progress on renewal, McTominay leaving in the summer of 2027 will become a realistic option. At the same time, Napoli has not ruled out an early departure in January next year, especially if the club receives an important offer after McTominay undergoes heart surgery and fully recovers.
