Walcott: I Like Tzolis, But I Would Choose Morgan Rogers

According to Metro, former Arsenal forward Theo Walcott said Arsenal should have signed Chelsea midfielder Rogers this summer.

Arsenal had pursued Vinicius, Alvarez and Rogers, but ultimately failed to sign those targets. Chelsea signed Rogers for £117 million early in the transfer window.

When Walcott created a combined Arsenal and Chelsea lineup on social media, he had to choose between Tzolis and Rogers. He said: "I like Tzolis, but I would choose Rogers. We should have signed him, oh well."

Walcott was not the only person disappointed that Arsenal missed out on Rogers. Ian Wright said on the Stick to Football show that Arsenal did need Rogers and that he would have liked to see the Aston Villa player join Arsenal.

Wright said: "You would say we already have players of this type, but that is exactly what Arteta wants. He needs a player like this in that position. Saka, Odegaard and Havertz are all back and can play together, but what Arteta wants is a player who can change games."

Wright also said that Arsenal's approach to pursuing Vinicius changed, which may have affected the club's chances of signing Rogers. He said: "Chelsea thought, if you are not willing to pay that price, then we will. I am disappointed, I really wanted to see him come."

Arteta previously said Arsenal do not regret selling Martinelli and Trossard. Arsenal also signed Guimaraes, Konsa, Hincapie and Tzolis this summer, and acquired Meslier on a free transfer.
