O'Reilly was originally set to start in midfield for Manchester City for the third consecutive match, but he withdrew from the starting lineup before kick-off, with Enzo Fernandez replacing him in the XI.

O'Reilly impressed last season as a left-back, with the 21-year-old winning the PFA Young Player of the Year award and representing England at the World Cup.

Enzo Fernandez was originally named among the substitutes. The player joined Manchester City from Chelsea for £125 million on transfer deadline day. Ndiaye, who joined on the same day, started on the left wing, while Buadi was included on the bench after making his substitute debut in the previous match against Crystal Palace.

Winger Alan, who joined from Brazilian club Palmeiras, was not included in the squad as he has not yet recovered to a condition where he can play.

Manchester City have won their first two Premier League matches of the new season, defeating Bournemouth and Crystal Palace respectively. The team will travel to Portugal on Tuesday to face Porto and begin their Champions League campaign, before heading to Old Trafford on Sunday, September 13, for the first Manchester derby of the season.
