Capello: Juventus' Two Stripped Serie A Titles Were Won on the Pitch, Not Fake

According to La Stampa, Capello discussed Giraudo's comments regarding the Calciopoli scandal and said that the two Serie A titles stripped from Juventus were won on the pitch.

Antonio Giraudo's interview with La Stampa sparked controversy. Twenty years later, the former Juventus executive spoke about the Calciopoli scandal again. Giraudo stressed that he had experienced “an unprecedented media trial, caused by the jealousy of those who could not beat us on the pitch.” He also said, “After the lengthy legal proceedings ended, it was ultimately proven that no league had been altered. Former Federal Court president Sandulli once said that it was a world full of bad habits, rather than a world of typical illegal conduct.” After Giraudo made these comments, Fabio Capello again emphasized that the two Serie A titles stripped from Juventus still belonged to the club in his view.

In an interview with La Stampa, Capello said: “Mr. Giraudo was the best Italian manager we had, yet he was rejected by the system. Did Calciopoli happen because those who could not beat us on the pitch were jealous? Well, we were very strong at that time. We did not need any help. Mr. Giraudo revealed the truth that I have always maintained and always stated: those Serie A titles were won on the pitch, they were not fake medals. They were real medals.”
