Valencia football director Ron Gourlay defended the renewal of Carlos Corberán: “We believe Carlos is the right person.” He said this at a press conference.

“Important decisions are always made in the football world, and you have to defend what you believe in. Last season there was a lot of pressure, and we had a difficult time, but I firmly believe in the coach and the team. We believe Carlos is the right person,” he said.
“Corberán received full support. He is part of the strategic decisions of this project, and this requires stability and trust. The start of the season was difficult, but we will turn the situation around.” He also emphasized the importance of stability. “At a club like Valencia, stability is needed. Only in this way can we make the club stronger. That is what we did last season, and in the end we missed European competition by just one point.”
Three stages
“Corberán experienced three stages. The first stage was the first six months, when he helped the club avoid relegation. The second stage was the middle period of last season, which was a difficult time, but the team had to stay united. The third stage was the second half of last season, when the work was excellent,” he concluded.
