Enrique: We would win 8 out of 10 games against Monaco; they scored twice from just two shots on target

According to L'Equipe, Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique said his team performed better in the 1-2 defeat to Monaco, but football is ultimately about the number of goals scored. Despite PSG collecting only two points from their first three league matches, he is not worried about the team's performances.

Enrique said: "Clearly, we deserved to win, that is my view. This was a typical match. We played better than our opponents and created more chances, but their goalkeeper was the best player on the pitch. You should have won the game, but football is about goals, and we lost in that aspect. However, I am very satisfied with the team."

Speaking about the gaps exposed in defense, Enrique said: "There is no need to worry. This is a special moment. How many shots on target did Monaco have? Two. How many goals did they score? Two. At the end of the season, we will see whether things balance out. Monaco defended very well, and I really like the way they play. They are currently top of the table. Congratulations to them, and congratulations to Felipe Luis as well."

Enrique believes PSG's pressing was excellent and their defensive performance was also at a high level, adding that one result should not erase everything the team did well. He said: "Monaco know that if they play against us like this 10 times, we will win eight, draw one and lose one. Today was that one."

Regarding PSG trailing the league leaders by seven points, Enrique said: "This is a huge motivation for my players, for the team and for the club. If you want to bet on who will win the title at the end of the season, we can bet. Seven points? Fine, we will reduce the gap as soon as possible."

Regarding Digne not being included in the squad, Enrique said there will be different player rotations this season, with three players excluded from the squad for every match, and that Digne's situation was nothing special.

Regarding Dembele coming on as a substitute, Enrique said: "Every player's situation is different. Dembele put in a lot of effort to play in two Super Cup matches, and then he took some rest. Now we are gradually increasing his playing time. Today he played 20 to 25 minutes and performed well. We are very happy to see him return, and the upcoming matches will be the same."

Regarding the club announcing his contract extension until 2030, Enrique said: "Now is not the best time to talk about this. However, what I can say is that this is the first time I have worked at the same club for a fourth season. I have more motivation than in my first year. I hope to stay in Paris for a long time, but I have to earn it through performances. That is my motivation today."
