Monaco coach: Beating one of history's greatest coaches Enrique is an honor; Balogun? He's our player

On September 5 Beijing time, in Ligue 1 Matchday 3, Paris Saint-Germain lost 1-2 to Monaco. After the match, Monaco head coach Filipe Luis gave an interview.

Three matches, three wins. Can this season be expected to bring something positive?

Filipe Luis: This has been a very good start to the season, but I remain calm because we have to take it one match at a time. Facing one of the best teams in the world, I am very satisfied with the players' performance and attitude. It is not only about tactics, but more importantly their performance and response on the pitch. As a coach, all I can do is focus on the next match. Beyond the result, my job is to help the players reach their maximum potential.

What decided the outcome of the match?

Filipe Luis: At the start of the match, we tried to apply high pressing. They managed to deal with our pressure through their own ability, but we did not give up and continued pressing. Paris Saint-Germain are not currently at their best. During halftime, we made adjustments regarding some issues in possession, and the players understood and executed those changes well. In the second half, we created some chances and scored goals to complete the comeback. Afterwards, we had to show courage, keep running, and defend actively, and we did that.

You were seen communicating with Luis Enrique during the match. Was winning at the Parc des Princes an honor for you?

Filipe Luis: For me, he is not only one of the best coaches in the world, but also one of the greatest coaches in football history. I greatly admire the way he treats players and the way he coaches teams. Being able to compete against him is a huge enjoyment in itself. So being able to beat him... for me, it is a tremendous honor. My goalkeeper made three incredible saves, at least two of which were outstanding.

Perhaps Paris Saint-Germain deserved a better result, but the final result is what it is. Football is sometimes about the result. We knew coming here would be difficult, and we did endure a lot of pressure during certain periods of the match, but in the end we won.

Lamine Camara had an excellent performance. How did you help him overcome the impact of his failed transfer to Chelsea?

Filipe Luis: I did nothing. He is a different kind of player. Players like him are not common in the football world. The way he shows his fighting spirit on the pitch... I am very proud of him.

So far this season, Monaco seem difficult for opponents to break down. After the match against Getafe, you said the team's defensive approach had changed. What exactly has changed?

Filipe Luis: We needed to correct many details. The players were previously used to handling defense in certain ways, and we had to change those habits. It takes some time to understand and adapt. Now, they feel more solid defensively. Whenever one player makes a mistake, another player is always there to cover and help correct the problem.

The transfer window has now closed. How much potential do you think this team has? Also, what do you think about Balogun?

Filipe Luis: Balogun is a Monaco player. The club is more important than any individual player. He is currently injured, but once he recovers, I will rely on him. I am very satisfied with the squad I currently have, but right now I only need to think about the next match.
