Gazzetta: Dimarco Renewal Talks Have Not Begun, Inter Prioritize Deal

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, theoretically speaking, and precisely only theoretically, Dimarco's contract with Inter Milan expires on June 30, 2027. On paper, there is less than a year remaining until the expiry date, so technically any club could begin contacting the wing-back's representatives to explore the possibility of signing him away from Inter. But... things will not develop that way. First, because when Inter signed his previous renewal around three years ago, the club inserted a clause allowing it to extend the contract for another year under the same conditions. Second, because Dimarco himself is the item that most deserves a green check mark; it is something that needs to be completed quickly and in a way that satisfies all parties.

Last night, at the Italian Football Awards ceremony, the Inter wing-back unintentionally revealed a half-finished sentence that made some fans feel nervous: "Unfortunately, we have not talked about a renewal yet. I had hoped to start discussions after the end of last season, but now I only want to focus on the match against Napoli." Therefore, the Inter player's comments are easy to understand: after a record-breaking season, in which he scored seven goals and provided 17 assists in Serie A, he at least deserved a phone call to begin discussions about the matter. But that call has not arrived yet.

Future

At the same time, Inter Milan have been busy with transfers and have also had to deal with the transition of the sporting director role from Ausilio to Baccin. The new season has already begun as well. However, within the club's priorities, Dimarco's renewal is already at the top of the list, provided that Pio Esposito's contract situation is handled first. Once that matter is resolved, it could even become the first major task for Baccin after taking office. On one hand, after delivering a season worthy of player-of-the-year recognition, Dimarco does want to receive greater acknowledgment; on the other hand, Inter clearly will not overlook the contract situation of their leading wing-back. Instead, Baccin plans to resolve it as soon as possible. This would also continue Inter's long-running story, one that includes both Dimarco and the club's new sporting director.
