Fans Tease Potter Over Pilates Photo, He Replies: I’ll Avoid Doing It in Dysfunctional Places

According to FourFourTwo, current Sweden national team head coach Graham Potter interacted with fans on social media recently and appeared to mock a club he previously managed as being “dysfunctional.” However, Potter did not clearly indicate whether he was referring to Chelsea or West Ham United.

On Thursday, Potter posted a photo of himself doing Pilates on social media. One fan commented jokingly: “I hope your Pilates level is better than when you were a football coach.”

In response, Potter wrote: “I’ll try not to do Pilates in a dysfunctional place, then I should be fine.” He also added an emoji showing a flexed bicep.

It remains unclear which former club Potter was specifically referring to. Potter previously managed Brighton, Chelsea and West Ham United, and his two Premier League coaching spells after leaving Brighton were not considered successful.

Potter managed Brighton for three years and led the team to its best-ever top-flight league finish at the time in 2022. He then joined Chelsea, but lost 11 of his 31 matches in charge and was dismissed less than eight months after taking the job.

After being away from management for nearly two years, Potter took over West Ham United in January 2025, but that spell was also short-lived. He remained in charge until September of that year, with the team finishing 14th in the Premier League in the 2024-25 season. By the end of the first five matches of the following season, West Ham had fallen to 19th in the table, and Potter was subsequently dismissed.

Now 51, Potter manages the Sweden national team. At this summer’s World Cup, he guided the team out of the group stage before losing 0-3 to France and being eliminated.

Aside from the “dysfunctional” reply, Potter continued interacting with other fans.

Another fan commented: “But you didn’t mind taking the money, right?”

Potter directly replied: “Of course I didn’t mind.”

Another West Ham United fan wrote: “You are the one who got us relegated, you idiot.”

Potter only replied with two laughing emojis.

FourFourTwo noted that there is still no clear answer as to whether Potter was mocking Chelsea or West Ham United.

However, West Ham United suffered relegation in the same season after Potter’s departure, while Chelsea have also experienced frequent managerial changes in recent seasons. Since Potter took charge, Chelsea have used multiple head coaches over three years and are currently managed by Xabi Alonso.
