CBA | Beijing Shougang Men’s Basketball Team Announces New Season Registration List, Fan Ziming Stays With Team

On the 28th, Beijing Shougang Men’s Basketball Team announced its domestic player registration list for the 2026-2027 season, with a total of 16 players included. Chen Yingjun and Zhang Cairen, whose contracts expired this summer, both completed contract extensions with the team. Chen Yingjun signed a two-year maximum contract. As a result, Beijing Shougang has filled all of its maximum contract slots, which belong to Chen Yingjun, Zhou Qi and Fan Ziming. Fan Ziming has one year remaining on his contract with the team and hopes to demonstrate his value in the new season.

Chen Yingjun has played for Beijing Shougang Men’s Basketball Team for two seasons and has shown his value. Although he is a point guard, he has strong scoring ability and often carries the team forward at crucial moments in games. This summer, Chen Yingjun’s contract expired, and teams from Taiwan’s league extended offers to him with highly attractive contracts. After considering various factors, Chen Yingjun decided to remain with Beijing Shougang. Chen Yingjun previously said that his dream is to win the CBA championship.

Considering Chen Yingjun’s age and the remaining contract years of other core players, Beijing Shougang Men’s Basketball Team signed him to a two-year maximum contract. By 2028, in addition to Chen Yingjun, the contracts of Zhou Qi, Zhao Rui and Zeng Fanbo will also expire. Currently, Zhou Qi and Chen Yingjun have maximum contracts, Zhao Rui has a standard contract, and Zeng Fanbo has a protected contract. Two years later, Zeng Fanbo will be eligible to sign a maximum contract. It can be expected that the team’s contract renewals with these core players in the summer of 2028 will attract significant attention.

In addition, Fan Ziming, who also currently holds a maximum contract, will continue playing for Beijing Shougang. Although his contract has not expired, Beijing Shougang was open to trading Fan Ziming this summer. Due to factors including the center position, his form and the team’s foreign player configuration, Fan Ziming’s appearances and playing time have declined significantly over the past two seasons, and he needs to show his value on the court. Although Beijing Shougang had held in-depth discussions with some teams, they ultimately decided to retain Fan Ziming, as the team’s selected interior foreign player, Sampson, is more oriented toward the power forward position. Fan Ziming has been in good form in recent warm-up games and hopes to prove himself again in the new season.
