CBA | Chen Yingjun Re-Signs Two-Year Maximum Contract with Beijing Shougang Men’s Basketball Team

On the 28th, Beijing Shougang Men’s Basketball Team officially announced that it had completed a contract extension with backcourt core Chen Yingjun. According to reports, the two sides signed a two-year maximum contract. During his past two seasons with Shougang, Chen Yingjun maintained a solid competitive level and strong offensive output. This summer, teams from Taiwan’s basketball league also offered Chen attractive terms in hopes of signing him. After weighing various factors, Chen ultimately decided to continue pursuing a championship run with Beijing Shougang.

Chen Yingjun joined Beijing Shougang from Guangzhou Men’s Basketball Team in 2024, and he did not need much time to demonstrate his value on the court. Although he mainly plays point guard, Chen has shown strong offensive ability and a clutch mentality. Over the past two seasons, Chen has scored several key baskets for the team and has become an indispensable backcourt “brain.” Although Chen has dealt with injuries and experienced fluctuations in form, his overall condition has remained at an elite level among domestic players in the league. Last season, Chen averaged 11.9 points and 4.9 assists per game. After the season ended, Chen’s contract expired, and he said in an interview that he hoped to continue chasing a championship with Beijing Shougang.

Beijing Shougang signed guard import Barry Brown this summer. He was previously teammates with Chen Yingjun at Guangzhou, and the two will now play together again. Shougang may hope that their familiarity can help create stronger chemistry.

Chen Yingjun’s return is highly significant for Beijing Shougang’s continued championship pursuit. With Fang Shuo moving to play in the NBL, Chen has become even more indispensable at the point guard position. Entering the new season, Beijing Shougang’s roster is becoming increasingly complete, with only the third foreign player position yet to be finalized.
