On September 9 Beijing time, Warriors team reporter Slater brought the latest recovery update on Jimmy Butler. Six months after undergoing right knee anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery, his recovery has made clear progress. He can gradually increase his training workload, but he still will not participate in the entire new-season training camp.

According to the report, after training camp begins at the end of September, Butler will only be able to do individual skill work and strength training and is not yet ready for high-intensity contact. The more realistic return window is January-February 2027. He underwent surgery in February this year, and if he returns on this timeline, he will have missed a full year.

There were previous reports that he could potentially return for the Christmas Day games, but that was only a theoretical target and was not included in the official rehabilitation plan. Moses Moody is also in the recovery process, with a goal of resuming on-court training in September.

Last season, the Warriors were repeatedly hit by injuries. Curry and Porzingis missed extended time, and the team was eliminated in the play-in tournament. Butler and Moody later suffered injuries as well. The front office's thinking is clear: if the two injured players can return before the February trade deadline next year, the team can fully evaluate the competitiveness of a healthy roster and decide its next moves.

In my view, Butler does not need to rush back early. A careful recovery and a full-strength return in the second half of the season is the outcome the Warriors most want to see.
