On the evening of September 5, Shandong Men's Basketball Team faced Qingdao Men's Basketball Team in the semifinal of the CBA Summer League Qingdao station. After an intense contest, Shandong lost 67-72 to their opponents and narrowly missed a place in the final. Notably, team core player Tao Hanlin was unable to participate for a reason.

Wang Zheng then scored with a layup to bring the score closer. Zhu Mingzhen scored again with a layup, while Wang Ruizhe knocked down two consecutive three-pointers from outside. Wang Zheng's long-range three also drew a foul, and he made both free throws. Li Junxian also added points through free throws, while Lin Weikai contributed as well. Finally, Zhao Haoran and Lin Weikai each scored with jump shots. At halftime, Shandong trailed 31-42.

After the third quarter, the two teams remained locked in a close battle. Li Junxian again drew a foul and made all his free throws. Zhang Haobo contributed with a layup, Zhao Haoran continued to perform well from the free-throw line, and Wang Zheng scored another layup. Wang Lanqin displayed skill with a scoop shot, while Zhao Haoran maintained his form by drawing another foul and making his free throws. Zhang Yang, Xu Mengjun, and Yang Wenxue also scored through layups. Zhu Mingzhen's three-pointer helped Shandong gain more points. Zhang Haobo responded by making both free throws, while Wang Ruizhe took the opportunity to hit a three-pointer. Duan Angjun made a steal and completed a dunk, and Chen Peidong's three-pointer also helped the team. Duan Angjun drew fouls and made one of two free throws, while Chang Haoran's scoop shot added another highlight. After three quarters, Shandong still trailed 51-63.

Entering the decisive fourth quarter, Chang Haoran drew another foul and made both free throws. Zhang Haobo made one free throw, and Cong Ruiyan's layup helped keep the team going. Wang Zheng added points with a layup, Li Junxian remained reliable at the free-throw line, and Yang Wenxue successfully scored with a reverse move. Chen Peidong's three-pointer and Guo Qifang's jump shot helped narrow the gap. Wang Zheng maintained his momentum by hitting a three-pointer, while Zhu Mingzhen also responded with a three-pointer. After Cong Ruiyan was fouled, he made both free throws. However, Shandong ultimately lost 66-72 to their opponents and were eliminated from the Summer League.
