On September 6, the 2026 CBA Summer League (Qingdao) Shuangxing Jinhu Cup came to a successful conclusion. On the final night, Qingdao Laoshan Beer faced Beijing Shougang in the championship game. Qingdao started slowly and fell behind, then fought back over the next three quarters as the gap narrowed at one point, but they were unable to complete the comeback. They eventually lost 78-83 to their opponents and finished as runners-up in this summer league, while Beijing Shougang won the championship.

The 2026 CBA Summer League Qingdao event lasted five days, with four games held each day. For all teams, it provided a good opportunity to test the results of their summer training. This year’s Qingdao Basketball Season continued to use top-level professional events as a driving force, leading the city’s basketball trend. As a traditional core event of the Qingdao Basketball Season, the tournament brought together eight strong teams: Zhejiang Zhenshang Securities, Beijing Shougang, Liaoning Bengang, Shanxi Fenjiu, Shandong Hi-Speed, Tianjin Pioneers, Fujian Jinjiang Culture Travel, and Qingdao Laoshan Beer. They competed together in Qingdao and presented fans with a high-level basketball showcase this summer.

As the host team, Qingdao Men’s Basketball Team secured four consecutive wins to reach the final, with many young players delivering impressive performances. However, against Beijing in the final, Qingdao fought hard but ultimately suffered a narrow defeat. Before the game, Zhao Rui was unable to play due to a fever, so Beijing gave more opportunities to young players. Beijing’s youngsters lived up to expectations, showing excellent shooting form and making 9 of 16 three-pointers for a 56.3% shooting percentage. Qingdao had six players score in double figures, but the team struggled from outside, making only 6 of 20 three-point attempts. Although the team exposed some issues, the core lineup gained valuable chemistry, and future training will be more targeted.

As the champions of this tournament, Beijing created a “youth storm.” Zhang Zhiyao and Lü Tianfu provided strong inside play, Wang Kai and Sun Yahui connected the offense skillfully, and Fan Yiming and Zhang Penghui showed active hustle. The young players supported the team with passion and energy, while Xiaochuan contributed with rebounding protection and Raymond provided scoring support. Beijing ultimately won the championship with an 83-78 victory, and Lü Tianfu scored 15 points to earn MVP honors for the game. The summer league has now concluded successfully. Through five high-intensity games, Qingdao Men’s Basketball Team earned second place, refined tactics, developed its roster, and adjusted its form. The growth of young players including Li Junxian and Zhang Haobo was especially notable. Next, Qingdao Men’s Basketball Team will make targeted improvements, optimize offensive and defensive details, and prepare fully for the new season while helping young players continue to develop.
