76ers Officially Sign Dillon Jones; Two-Time Champion Could Compete for a Two-Way Contract

On September 9 Beijing time, the Philadelphia 76ers officially announced the signing of Dillon Jones. According to a report from team reporter Kyle Neubuck, the former first-round pick signed an Exhibit 10 training camp contract with the team.

Jones was selected 26th overall in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft. He began his NBA career with the Oklahoma City Thunder and was traded to the Washington Wizards in the summer of 2025. Unfortunately, he was waived by the Wizards after last year's preseason. The talented player from Weber State University successfully joined the New York Knicks in January 2026 and later contributed to the team on a two-way contract.

Over the past two NBA seasons, Jones has appeared in 61 games, averaging 9.7 minutes per game while recording 2.4 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists. His shooting percentages were 37.3% from the field, 25.0% from three-point range and 65.6% from the free-throw line.

However, Jones has shown a more impressive performance in the G League. During the 2025-26 season, he played 42 games combined for the Rip City Remix and the Westchester Knicks, averaging 35.4 minutes per game and posting a well-rounded stat line of 15.9 points, 7.0 assists and 6.9 rebounds. His field-goal, three-point and free-throw percentages were 42.9%, 35.8% and 77.7%, respectively.

Although Jones was not a core player on championship teams, he achieved a rare accomplishment: winning championships in each of his first two NBA seasons. In 2025, he appeared in 10 playoff games for the Thunder, totaling 46 minutes. After moving to the Knicks in 2026, he did not receive a playoff appearance opportunity.

It is worth noting that an Exhibit 10 contract is a non-guaranteed training camp agreement, meaning it can potentially be converted into a two-way contract before the start of the regular season. If Jones is waived and then plays for the team's G League affiliate for at least 60 days, he can receive a bonus of up to $91,000. The 76ers currently have one two-way contract slot available besides Love and Lueppert, and Jones will compete for that spot during training camp.

Currently, the 76ers have 20 players under contract, including 13 fully guaranteed contracts. Jabari Walker holds a partially guaranteed contract, while Love and Lueppert are on two-way contracts. The remaining players are all on Exhibit 10 contracts. Without additional corresponding moves, the team's signing of Jones is relatively straightforward.
