ClutchPoints: The 2009 Draft Class Has Been Severely Underrated; Can It Rank Among the Top Five Draft Classes in History?

The 2009 NBA Draft is the most underrated draft class, and it is rarely mentioned by people.

Whenever people discuss talent-rich draft classes, they usually think of the 1996, 2003, 1984, or 2018 classes.

However, the results delivered by the 2009 class so far have been quite impressive.

This class produced many dependable role players who helped define the league after the 2010s, including Ricky Rubio, Patty Mills, James Johnson, and Taj Gibson.

It also produced franchise-level stars such as Blake Griffin, DeMar DeRozan, and Jrue Holiday.

The greatest legacy of this class belongs to Stephen Curry and James Harden. Both have won MVP awards and changed the way basketball is played.

Curry's influence with three-point shooting has been highly impactful. Today, many players in transition offense would rather take a three-pointer than drive for a layup.

Harden's scoring ability and skill at drawing fouls even prompted Adam Silver to make multiple rule changes in the league.
