76ers Sign Former Thunder First-Round Pick Dylan Jones, Who Could Compete for Two-Way Contract

According to PHLY Sports reporter Kyle Neubeck, the Philadelphia 76ers recently reached a training camp agreement with former NBA first-round pick Dylan Jones that includes an Exhibit 10 clause. The guard was born in October 2001 and is currently 24 years old. He is 196 cm tall and weighs approximately 107 kg. Jones was selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder with the 26th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Although Jones also played for the New York Knicks, his early-career performance was not particularly impressive. As a result, despite being a first-round selection, he has played only two seasons so far and has seen limited playing time. To date, Jones has appeared in 61 NBA regular-season games, averaging 9.7 minutes per game with 2.4 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.3 steals and 0.1 blocks. He has averaged 0.5 turnovers and 1.0 fouls per game, with shooting percentages of 37.3% from the field, 25.0% from three-point range and 65.6% from the free-throw line.

Although Jones has had a modest NBA performance, he has shown encouraging results in the G League. Last season, he averaged 6.9 assists, 1.8 steals and 0.5 blocks per game, with 2.7 turnovers and 2.6 fouls per game. He shot 42.9% from the field, 35.8% from three-point range and 77.7% from the free-throw line. It is worth noting that Jones won an NBA championship with his team early in his professional career, which is relatively rare among young players.

Currently, the 76ers have not filled all of their two-way contract slots, with Caleb Love and Rayan Rupert already occupying two of those spots. Therefore, Jones will have an opportunity to compete for a two-way contract position during training camp. In addition, the 76ers currently have 20 players under contract, including 13 fully guaranteed contracts, a partially guaranteed contract for Jabari Walker, and the two-way contracts for Love and Rupert. The remaining players' contracts all include Exhibit 10 clauses, so Jones' signing will not result in an additional roster cut. This creates favorable conditions for him to compete for a two-way contract.
