76ers Complete Multiple Key Moves, with Jaylen Brown Trade as Offseason Highlight

According to The Athletic reporter Tony Jones, the Philadelphia 76ers completed several key moves during the offseason. Among them, the team initially did not believe they would be able to acquire former Boston Celtics wing star Jaylen Brown, but they ultimately achieved their goal, largely thanks to the persistence and determination of team president of basketball operations Mike Gansey.

In an interview with Jones, Gansey said: “Some trades took us two years to complete. The reason behind that process was simple: we kept in contact. We continued to track this deal and eventually successfully acquired the player we wanted. Of course, deals like this do not always work out, but we made sure to do everything we could. During our discussions with Boston about a Jaylen trade, the entire conversation lasted for several weeks. We made our interest clear and kept trying to open that door.”

According to statistics, in last season’s NBA regular season, Brown played 71 games for the Celtics, averaging 34.4 minutes per game and recording 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1 steal and 0.4 blocks, along with 3.6 turnovers and 2.7 fouls. He shot 47.7% from the field, 34.7% from three-point range and 79.5% from the free-throw line. In the playoffs, he appeared in 7 games, averaging 35.6 minutes per game and posting 25.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.1 blocks, along with 3.6 turnovers and 3.0 fouls. His shooting percentages were 45.5% from the field, 40.5% from three-point range and 71.7% from the free-throw line.

This summer, in order to acquire Brown, the 76ers sent star Paul George, along with two future first-round draft picks and two future second-round draft picks, completing this important signing. The trade not only improved the team's strength but also laid a foundation for future development.
