CBA Updates: Guangdong Signs Luka Bozic, Liaoning Welcomes Two Foreign Players, Shandong Contacts Jabari Parker

With about one month remaining before the new CBA season begins, many teams have finalized their rosters for the new campaign, while some teams are still searching for foreign players. There are currently three major CBA updates: Guangdong has signed foreign player Luka Bozic, Liaoning's big man Chris has arrived in Shenyang to join the team, and Shandong is in contact with foreign player Jabari Parker.

During this offseason, Guangdong faced some difficulties with its foreign player lineup. Quinn joined a Russian team, while Salinger announced his retirement, leaving the team needing to find new foreign players. Recently, new news finally emerged regarding Guangdong's foreign player situation. According to European media outlet Basketball Sphere, wing Luka Bozic will join Guangdong for the new season, and the two sides have already reached a signing agreement.

Bozic is 2 meters tall and 30 years old this year. He has previously competed in European and American leagues. Last season, he played for Granada in the Spanish ACB League, appearing in 34 games and averaging 16.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.1 steals in 29.2 minutes per game. His performance was impressive. Luka can score, rebound, push the ball, create plays and draw fouls (averaging 8.3 free-throw attempts per game). He is an all-around player, and his arrival could provide significant help for Guangdong.

Liaoning has finalized its entire roster for the new season. Compared with last season, the biggest changes have come in the foreign player department. Liaoning upgraded its foreign player group by signing Chris, Edwards and Cooper. According to media reports, Edwards arrived in Shenyang on September 8, and big man Chris also joined the team on the 13th. In the upcoming preseason game against Beikong on the 13th, both Edwards and Chris could potentially play.

Chris performed quite well for Shandong last season, averaging 19.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Edwards is a talented guard who averaged 18.9 points, 4 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.8 steals per game in the Israeli league last season, ranking second on the scoring list. Cooper is a former Liaoning player who previously helped Liaoning win a championship. Compared with previous seasons, Liaoning's new foreign player combination has improved significantly, and its performance and results in the new season are highly anticipated.

Shandong has already confirmed two foreign players for the new season, Faye and Dalano Banton, with Faye having arrived in Jinan to join the team. For the third foreign player, Shandong has targeted a former NBA player. Reports say the team is in contact with Jabari Parker, and a signing is possible. Parker is a 31-year-old veteran who previously played 11 seasons in the NBA, averaging 14.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2 assists in 27.5 minutes per game. During the 2024-25 season with powerhouse Barcelona, he averaged 18.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.

Parker is 2.01 meters tall and can play both forward positions. Due to two previous major injuries, his athletic ability has declined significantly. However, Parker is an excellent shooter and is a player known for his scoring through shooting. If Shandong can sign Parker, along with the practical Faye, the talented Banton, and domestic player additions Zhu Mingzhen, Wang Lanqin and Yang Wenxue, the team's performance in the new season will be highly anticipated.
