Media Suggests Heat Consider Cam Whitmore, Give Him Chance to Rebuild Value - NBA News

Sept. 4 - According to U.S. media outlet Sporting News, with the Heat still having one roster spot available, Fadeaway World writer Eddie Bitar recently suggested that the team consider signing free agent Cam Whitmore.

Bitar pointed out that the Heat have built their roster around Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo, and have already signed Klay Thompson to add perimeter scoring, so they could consider adding another bench scorer. He believes that although Whitmore can sometimes be too eager to prove himself on the court, Miami's team environment could help him better understand and accept his role.

Whitmore was the No. 20 overall pick in the first round of the 2023 draft. He was previously sent to the Cavaliers in a trade involving Peyton Watson and was then waived. Through the first three seasons of his NBA career, he has averaged 10.5 points per game, with a 45% field goal percentage and a 35% three-point percentage. The media noted that if he joins the Heat at a relatively low cost, he could try to reestablish his value in a competitive environment.
