Sept. 3 - Today, Pablo Torre discussed Kawhi Leonard's level of knowledge regarding the Clippers' salary cap circumvention case and said he finds it difficult to accept the claim that "Leonard knew nothing." "I strongly believe in treating adults as adults. Leonard is already 35 years old. We have documents, and we also have the $28 million Aspiration contract, which bears his signature."
Torre also pointed out that, in addition to the contract and the flow of funds, the NBA investigation report itself directly mentioned Leonard, rather than only his uncle Dennis Robertson. According to the report, Leonard personally requested that Aspiration adjust the way payments were made to him.
Torre gave an example, saying that Aspiration initially planned to pay part of the annual $7 million compensation in stock, while also providing another $4 million to $5 million in cash compensation, but Leonard's side later requested changes to that payment structure. Torre believes these details make the claim that "Leonard was completely unaware of the entire arrangement" difficult to accept.
