Ben Simmons’ Godfather Claims He Has Started Shooting Threes, but Kings Fans Remain Skeptical

Ben Simmons’ godfather claims that he has started shooting three-pointers. Kings fans will only believe it when they see it themselves.

After Ben Simmons signed with the Sacramento Kings, he has reportedly started shooting three-pointers, although people remain skeptical about it.

The Sacramento Kings recently announced the signing of former NBA All-Star Ben Simmons, and the news quickly became a major talking point. Simmons is returning to the NBA after stepping away from basketball for a year, hoping to prove he can still perform at a high level.

Simmons has long been criticized for being unable to shoot three-pointers (as well as being unwilling to take them), but his godfather David Patrick says that will change this season.

“He came into training camp and is shooting threes in live action, not caring whether they go in or not… that aura and confidence he once had are back,” he said. The quote was taken from the Matt & Kayla Show on Sacramento Sports 1140 and reposted by Basket News.

Simmons rarely attempted three-pointers during his time with the Philadelphia 76ers, although early in his career he became one of the league’s most unique players thanks to his size, athleticism and court vision, making opponents fear his transition offense and ability to attack the basket. Simmons was also considered one of the league’s top perimeter defenders for years and was selected to three All-Star Games in his career.

Unfortunately, serious back injuries and clear mental struggles on the court eventually led to Simmons’ disappointing end with the 76ers after their 2021 playoff loss to the Atlanta Hawks. In the following years, he moved between teams around the league before eventually setting sail last year and becoming a fisherman.

However, Simmons will now have an opportunity to prove himself with the rebuilding Kings, where he is expected to receive plenty of chances to handle the ball and facilitate the offense.

The Kings will begin their new season on October 21 against the Los Angeles Clippers.
