Andrew Wiggins talked about reuniting with Klay Thompson on the Heat and the resulting championship aspirations.

With star Klay Thompson joining the Miami Heat and playing alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo in South Beach, it also marks a reunion between the three-point specialist and forward Andrew Wiggins, who were teammates with the Golden State Warriors. Thompson hopes to have a redemption season with the Heat, while Wiggins discussed the level the team could reach after the addition of the veteran star.

According to the Heat's official social media account, Wiggins shared his thoughts on Thompson signing with Miami. The two played for the Golden State Warriors from 2020 to 2024 and won a championship together in 2022. Wiggins called Thompson 'one of the most competitive players' he has worked with and said Thompson will play an 'important role' in the upcoming 'special' season.

"Man, you're talking about a four-time champion," Wiggins said. "You know, he's one of the most competitive players I've worked with. It's great to have him join the team. He'll bring joy to the locker room. On the court, everyone knows what he can bring."

"But man, it's great to have him on the team," Wiggins continued. "You know, Klay is a great one-on-one player. He brings a championship mindset to the team. You know, this year we have a chance to accomplish something special, and he is an essential part of that."

Heat 2026-27 season outlook.

Although the Miami Heat still have one standard contract spot open, the team will be led by captain Bam Adebayo and has two major offseason additions in Antetokounmpo and Thompson.
