JJ Redick ranks Stephen Curry above all other NBA shooters and revealed the other four legendary players on his list of the five greatest shooters in history.

While appearing on “The Draymond Green Show,” the Lakers head coach revealed his top five NBA shooters in history. Curry firmly holds the top spot, while Redick included Klay Thompson, Kyle Korver, Ray Allen and Reggie Miller among the other four players, with no specific ranking among them.

“Stephen (Curry) is No. 1. Everybody else is behind him in my mind,” Redick said. “The other four, in no particular order, are Klay Thompson, Kyle Korver, Ray Allen and Reggie Miller.”

Redick also explained why comparing players from different eras cannot rely only on shooting percentages. He praised earlier players while also pointing out that modern shooters attempt more difficult shots and take on a greater offensive responsibility from beyond the three-point line.

Why Redick believes modern shooters are superior

“I don't want to diminish the three-point shooters from the 1980s or 1990s, but they shot in a different way than we do today,” Redick said. “The difficulty of the shots they took and the number of attempts were different from what we have now.”

For Redick, the evolution of basketball has made today's three-point specialists very different from their predecessors. Teams now build offensive systems around creating three-point opportunities, and the importance of shot volume is almost equal to shot quality.

“The game before was different from the game now, and the game is always evolving,” Redick added. “Now we place a lot of importance on creating three-point opportunities. It is not just about the quality of the shots, but also about the number of attempts.”

Redick has brought this philosophy into his third season coaching the Lakers. After coaching Anthony Davis and LeBron James in his first two seasons, he will lead a reshaped roster centered around Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves as the team begins a new chapter after the LeBron era.
