Matt Barnes joked about the Los Angeles Lakers after the team made a series of moves during the offseason.

The Los Angeles Lakers had a busy offseason, highlighted by LeBron James leaving the team in free agency and the sign-and-trade acquisition of center Walker Kessler from the Utah Jazz. In addition, the Lakers signed guard Austin Reaves to a long-term maximum-value extension, ensuring he will continue as Luka Doncic's teammate in the future.

Some people noticed that the Lakers have a relatively large number of white players on this season's roster, including former Lakers forward Matt Barnes. According to Thomas L. Murray of the New York Post, TMZ Sports described them as the 'whitest Lakers team since the Minneapolis Lakers.'

However, Barnes made it clear that he still believes the Lakers can accomplish something this year.

“But, man, when you have Luka and AR (Austin Reaves), in my opinion, they are two of the best scoring guards in the league. Their additions have strengthened the team's depth,” Barnes said. “For me, I still need to see it with my own eyes. Everyone wants to give their opinions and predict how they think the team will perform.”

Doncic and Reaves are indeed one of the league's most explosive backcourt combinations in terms of scoring and playmaking, but it remains to be seen whether the Lakers have added enough size and athleticism around them to address their well-known defensive weaknesses.

Meanwhile, Kessler's arrival gives the Lakers a reliable rim protector and lob threat who can play alongside Doncic, helping Los Angeles strengthen its interior presence even if its perimeter defense remains a major question mark.

Regardless, the Lakers will open the new season on October 21 by hosting the Golden State Warriors.
