Paul appeared on a podcast and finally opened up about the difficult experiences he had with the Clippers. He said it was the most disrespectful treatment he had received in his career. He recalled that while playing an away game in Atlanta, he was told by the team in the early hours of the morning that they no longer needed him. Despite putting so much effort and dedication into the team, he was ultimately handled in a rushed manner.
At that moment, he truly felt that in the NBA, even if you give everything you have, your contributions may not necessarily be appreciated or valued by others. Paul had originally planned to retire after finishing that season, but after experiencing a trade and being waived, his playing career came to an abrupt end.
It was this painful experience that allowed him to fully understand that fame and success on the court are secondary, and that in the end, family is what matters most.
