Miller: After signing a $51 million contract with the Nuggets, he directly gave away $300,000 and gifted relatives diamond earrings - NBA News

September 5 — Former NBA player Andre Miller revealed on a podcast program that after signing a $51 million contract with the Denver Nuggets, he took out $300,000 in cash and gave it to relatives and friends.

"After I got the contract, I held a party at my home in Sacramento. I had just bought a new house and invited my family and friends over. I specifically went to the bank and withdrew $300,000 in cash, and that is true. Cash was my emotional remedy. Speaking of my family, my great-grandparents had 18 or 20 children."

"Everyone came to the house, and I gave all of the money away. At that time, I realized I was being a little impulsive. I gave away all the money. When I came to my senses, everyone had diamond earrings on their ears, while I had only taken a two-hour nap. The money was just gone. I prepared envelopes with each person's name written on them and handed out the money..."

"When they left, my pool had been stepped in so much that it was completely black. After the party ended, I simply replaced the entire pool. The pool was in terrible condition, and I had just given away $300,000 in cash."
